Thank you to everyone who joined us for our recent open house, on April 26th. It was a beautiful Sunday filled with warmth, learning, and connection. Our instructor, Jing, shared thoughtful insights on yoga philosophy while we enjoyed chai and snacks together. We also welcomed many visitors who stopped by after seeing our open-house sign, making the day even more special.

Insights from Jing on Yoga Philosophy
Jing’s talk was a highlight of the day. She introduced us to key concepts of yoga philosophy that go beyond physical postures. Here are some of the ideas she shared:
Yama - Asana (posture), Satya (truthfulness), Asteya (non stealing), Bhramhacharya (correct use of energy), and Aparigraha (not being greeedy)
Niyama - Santosha (happiness), Saucha (purity), Tapasya (fire of dedication or discipline), Swadhyaya (self-learning) and Ishvara Pranidhana (surrender to the divine energy)
These are the first two limbs of the eight limbs of yoga, called Ashtanga Yoga. Jing explained each of these with a lot of enthusiasm and relevancy, relating it to every day life that made it so much more interesting.
The role of breath - Conscious breathing supports emotional regulation and we tried some breathing techniques through controlled inhalation and exhalation.
These insights sparked thoughtful discussions among attendees. Many expressed how these principles could apply to their daily lives, and how similar these were to their already existing spiritual philosophies. These gatherings are commonly termed as a”Satsang” (group people who get together for a positive exchange of energy or ideas)
Moving Forward Together
Our open house was a first step toward building a stronger, more connected community. We invite you to join us at future events where we can continue to learn, share, and grow together. Whether you are new to yoga or a longtime practitioner, there is a place for you here.
Stay tuned for announcements about upcoming gatherings. We look forward to welcoming you again soon for more inspiring conversations, shared moments, and chai.
Namaste,
Raji and Jing
